Passion

Lucky is the man who lives through his passion.

Lucky is the man who is knowledgeable of his passion...

A man who knows not of his passion lives in a life less entity.

A man that exist as a robot and is machine like lacks the sweet sensation of adhering to his talent, seeking his soul and exuding his passion.

A man who does not utilize his love and passion looses soul, and happiness.

Gifts are meant to be open, talent is a gift.

Loving that gift is passion, using that gift is passion.

Passion, passion of the heart, passion of the soul.

Passion

Invictus Vs Reality

Invictus

Out of the night that covers me,Black as the Pit from pole to pole,I thank whatever gods may beFor my unconquerable soul.In the fell clutch of circumstanceI have not winced nor cried aloud.Under the bludgeonings of chanceMy head is bloody, but unbowed.Beyond this place of wrath and tearsLooms but the Horror of the shade,And yet the menace of the yearsFinds, and shall find, me unafraid. It matters not how strait the gate,How charged with punishments the scroll.I am the master of my fate:I am the captain of my soul. William Ernest Henley

One of my favorite poems of all times... i was prompted by a complete stranger today on the lovely facebook, where he posed the question, "So, do you really believe that you are the master of your destiny, that although you are battered and your head is bloodied and abowed, you are still in control of the resultant of your life?"

being the open minded individual that i am, i had to try and think and analyze the poem looking at it and through from different perspectives. but to answer the gentleman's question, i did believe and still do believe that based on certain circumstances i do control my destiny with what the things i do with my life and the decisions i may make. i think this poem can be argued if scenarios are exaggerated like the one posed by the gentleman. even at then, the poem is about self motivation, and determination, not being moved by the atrocities of life, being steadfast to what one deeply believes in.

the title however had me thinking, ones fate, may differ from what is real. and if this is the case an individual may reside in a place of "Utopia" (the Greek and original meaning of the utopia). my reason for saying this is, being unmoved and steadfast to ones beliefs, or having the idea of control over ones fate may be quite contrary to what actual is. hence if one is unmoved by any circumstances that may arise which may be the reality of things, this steadfast belief keeps that individual from seeing what is at hand or real and keeps them in that place of "no where" (utopia) where they continue to believe that their control may stare them away from or towards whats disdainful, or pleasing.

then the is the thought, this idea of control can cause self destruction. the thought that a person is in control of their fate yet their lives or in a shambles can cause one to look at themselves with disdain....

interesting it is how such a question can make one think in some many ways.

"All Is Fair in Love & Basketball"

Being a hopeless romantic I'm sick watching one of my favorite movies, Brown Sugar, and it came to me. It dawned on me that after passing that era and phase in time we have yet to seen another set of classic black movies like we had years ago. movies like Love Jones, Poetic Justice, Love&Basketball, Brown Sugar, Waiting to Exhale, Save The Last Dance etc. Movies that spoke to the black audience, movies that touched and moved us. Black movies that deserved Oscars but didn't win mainly because it was a black movie. I wish i could say watching love&basketball, and brown sugar more that ten times gets old but it doesn't, because its real, its still fresh after the years, and though i may know the lines to the whole movie, i still cry. lol what will it take to have black movies that affect people like that again?

where did it go? where did genuine love go? genuine black love. that love that lingers with the smooth Teddy Pendergrass playing, or ms Sade setting the mode. those moments have become a moment in the past, classic only heard about moments, sweet cherished antique moments.

i may not be that old, but i do remember when love did mean something. when love wasn't a hunch or a spur of the moment decision, but was heart felt, and took a long time to realize. that love where two lives have laughed, and cried together, two lives where their love grew and nurtured each other. that love where there is a knot in your heart kind of pain yet there are angels smiling when your happy kind of love... where did that go. that love that is built and could never be broken. that unreal yet a representative for black love that is portrayed in Brown Sugar, Love & Basketball, Two Can Play That Game, The Brothers, Best Man, etc. heart wrenched movies that portrayed who were in society. today we have nothing to represent us blacks, because we have nothing in society. no true black love left in us, where did it go?

im not interested

I have been struggling with saying no for some time now. i believe there is always a point in an individuals life where little to no one is interested in them. i frequently experience this, and find no problem with it. i embrace not having to worry about men and relationships.

However, i also find myself in positions where young men find themselves attracted to as well, not just one particular man at a time, but men. I am not an arrogant person mind you, i am quite the contrary, so this is very overwhelming at times. my issue is how can you tell these individuals your not interested in being intimate with them, without being rash, rude, and crude. i have become weary to the thought of having to be nice to each and every one of them. why cant we just be friends? i really don't want to say" nigga i dont like yuh ass!"
