Being a hopeless romantic I'm sick watching one of my favorite movies, Brown Sugar, and it came to me. It dawned on me that after passing that era and phase in time we have yet to seen another set of classic black movies like we had years ago. movies like Love Jones, Poetic Justice, Love&Basketball, Brown Sugar, Waiting to Exhale, Save The Last Dance etc. Movies that spoke to the black audience, movies that touched and moved us. Black movies that deserved Oscars but didn't win mainly because it was a black movie. I wish i could say watching love&basketball, and brown sugar more that ten times gets old but it doesn't, because its real, its still fresh after the years, and though i may know the lines to the whole movie, i still cry. lol what will it take to have black movies that affect people like that again?
